DELT CoP Lunch & Learn: Exploring Learning Analytics in South African Higher Education in the Age of AI
On 17 September 2025, the Community of Practice for Digital Education, Learning and Teaching (DELT CoP) hosted its second Lunch & Learn webinar under the theme Learning Analytics in South African Higher Education in the Age of AI. The session unpacked the field of learning analytics, educational data mining, and student analytics, breaking down complex concepts into accessible insights.
Participants engaged with analytics at the micro (individual student), meso (course/programme/faculty), and macro (institutional) levels, exploring how these can be applied to address challenges within South African universities.
Dr Nicola Pallitt, Senior Lecturer and Educational Technology Specialist at the Centre for Higher Education Research, Teaching and Learning (CHERTL) at Rhodes University, facilitated this session.
