Community of Practice on Postgraduate Education and Scholarship (CoP PGES)

The Community of Practice for Postgraduate Education and Scholarship (CoP PGES) supports the national higher education sector in postgraduate teaching and learning, through the training and support for supervisors, linking post-graduate students and candidates to prospective mentors and enables collegial interaction between peers.

The CoP PGES advises USAf’s Research and Innovation Strategy Group (RISG) and advocates for the sector on matters relating to postgraduate education; coordinates national activities such as conferences and colloquia and facilitates the sharing of resources and exchanging good practices for the benefit of the postgraduate community.

The CoP PGES is being supported by the national Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) as part of its commitment to the advancement of early career researchers. Other key stakeholders include the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), the National Research Foundation (NRF), and senior and executive leaders drawn from South Africa’s 26 public universities.
