Students’ Access to and Use of Learning Materials

A study completed by the University of the Free State’s Centre for Teaching and Learning has brought to the surface, students’ experiences of emergency remote teaching and learning during the hard lockdown in 2020.  Paying particular attention to NSFAS-funded students, the study explored students’ a) access to, and use of learning materials; b) access to devices, data and connectivity; c) engagement with educational technology and d) challenges and benefits of technology-based learning. The study report also shares implications for policy and teaching practice, if a more technologically enabled teaching and learning environment is to flourish.
