Universities South Africa on a path to Reinventing South Africa’s Universities of the Future
Registration is now open for the first-ever National Higher Education Conference, organised by Universities South Africa from the 2nd to the 4th of October, 2019. The conference, to be hosted from the International Convention Centre of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Pretoria, is targeted at academics, researchers and professional support staff in both the public and private university space in South Africa. USAf is looking to attract up to 300 delegates to the event.
Themed Reinventing South Africa’s Universities for the Future, the conference will cover a raft of broad topics ranging from shaping institutional cultures of universities of the future; new technologies for tomorrow’s labour market; innovative teaching approaches; developing entrepreneurial students within entrepreneurial universities; research and funding. The cluster of sub-themes has been built around Universities South Africa’s key strategic focus areas as determined within the organisation’s five strategy groups.
The speaker line-up features recognised experts, senior academics and bureaucrats from South Africa’s higher education sector. Delegates will also hear perspectives of three international speakers from the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the University of Oslo in Norway and the Nairobi, Kenya-based United States International University, respectively.
A detailed draft programme, expected to evolve over the coming weeks, may be accessed here.
